Peak learning happens when learner-centered design meets the right combination of technology and learning strategies. Discovering what the right combination is, however, is no easy task. It takes research, experimentation, and adoption of best practices to make the most of what's available.
I've been involved with learning and technology for over fifteen years, and what was cutting-edge or science fiction fifteen years ago has become common place now. Computer-based training has given way to blended learning models. Social networks, smart-phones, and the availability of inexpensive broadband and web-based applications have made the general public into both consumers and producers of information. New words have entered our vocabulary. Want to learn about something? Just "Google" it.
That's what Pinnacle Learning is about. . . exploring the field of instructional technology and adult learning. It gives me the opportunity to explore and write about technologies that I find interesting, to share resources that I discover, and to get feedback from others working in the learning and technology field. We'll focus on what works in today's workplace--not just the latest and greatest version of some company's software--but on what real learning professionals (or those of us who have been given the task of training others) can use to get the job done.
Pinnacle Learning is brought to you by Andrew Masiewicz, instructional designer, trainer, and e-learning developer (and part-time blogger and webmaster). Thanks for visiting!
